A Walk in the Park

I smiled, she smiled back
we continued with our walk
in the park. The next day,
we ran into each other again
I thought she wanted to talk.
I smiled, she smiled back,
we continued to walk.

The next day, again...
This time I stopped.
In the lovely park with men,
women and children
we were the lone two-some.

Should I get to know her, I thought....
She hesitated too...not for long!
And when we began, we were
unstoppable, as if we had
known each other for long...
These joyous exchanges
lit my heart during dark nights.

One day, she did not come.
I wondered, imagined, yearned -
disappointment writ on my face
there was no way to find out
I continue to walk....
