Theme: Life

Till Our Return

A monk in a cave
In relentless quest of celestial aura
Abnegates worldly pleasure,
Emotion and tear;

Ascetic is the way
To explore Him within a self—
Much like sustaining
The tenacity of an embryo
Till it’s mature — attaining a shape,
Striving, striking to come out ......

At time propitious — it’s in a new world
Brimming with earthly delight
And soul-stirring light,
Becomes clear the phenomenal world
Where there’s no way to escape
The nettle of persisting darkness
Resembling that of the womb
Dominant even when the world he thinks his home—

It remains so very often,
Changes its domain — from womb to orb;
Since birth everybody plunges to ward it off
Crawling from here to there—

Invites it again by chasing shades,
Hankering for what one may not be worthy of
Finds everywhere that phantom shadow
Behind the sought-after divine halo ........

Divine halo
In its pursuit a monk dedicates his lifetime
Seldom do we — submit to Him con amore
Unless in distress!

The darkness of existential agony and pain
We’re born to bear with doesn’t disappear
Till our return to the centre-point
We’re preordained.
