Theme: Longing

Wanting You

Wanting you is like embracing a rose
Being enchanted by its fragrance
Being pricked by its thorns

Or perhaps walking into a battlefield
With no armour, no sword
Weaponless, helpless, inundated with arrows

My heart has cracked open irreparably
Splintered, shattered, obliterated entirely

You are all I see, all I hear
And all I think of too.
But to tell you?
Never.

I'll love you from afar
For I can never get too close

Because we're so different that
Even when you're sat
Right next to me
We're on the opposite sides of the universe

For I am ruled by emotion, you by logic
And we are citizens of vastly different worlds
Which are irreconcilable and eternally at war

The truth of the matter?
We aren't meant for each other.
Yet why can't I move on and find another?
