Theme: Dignity

Standing With Dignity

Standing with dignity,

An old oak tree

Continues to be

An inspiration for me.

Standing with dignity,

An old oak tree

Continues to be

An inspiration for me—

Standing with dignity.

I hear its call:

Standing so tall,

It does its duty

By bestowing beauty.

I hear its call:

Standing so tall,

It does its duty

By bestowing beauty.

It blesses the scene

By looking serene

Day in, day out,

Without a doubt.

Standing with dignity,

An old oak tree

Continues to be

An inspiration for me—

Standing with dignity.

Changing with season,

It finds no reason

To be bitter or sad,

Let alone get mad.

Changing with season,

It finds no reason

To be bitter or sad,

Let alone get mad.

I spend some time,

Some moments sublime,

Learning from this tree

To be carefree.

Standing with dignity,

An old oak tree

Continues to be

An inspiration for me.

Standing with dignity,

An old oak tree

Continues to be

An inspiration for me—

Standing with dignity.

Comment A tree inspires us with its nature of bestowing, giving, sharing; above all, by being itself.
May we learn to withdraw our gaze from competing and comparing ourselves with others and learn to run our own race!
