26th of January: A Memory

When we were children,

We used to celebrate

Republic Day with jubilation

Innocently viewing up above

At the fluttering tricolour

And wishing to get

Toffees and lozenges.

That was then....

A childhood memory,

But now I'm left with

The residues of fulfilled and unfulfilled dreams,

The volumes of done and undone works,

Still searching for meaning in life.
