  Sometimes
fear uncoils its icy tentacles
And claws deep into my psyche.
Like a moonless splinter
of the night sky
stark terror hounds my soul.
In such faith-shattering moments,
bequeath Your light upon me Lord.
Illumine the encircling darkness and
steer me to the haven of your shores.
Holy Spirit lift up my faltering faith
let your mercy rekindle my belief
Soothe my affrighted spirit, sweet Lord
Steep it in the chalice of your Love.
