In my younger days, I along with my sister and mother were spending
Our summer holidays in the heart of Madras at our grandfather‘s sprawling
Bungalow and my cousins were also joining
Us from their native places, unmindful of the scorching
Heat during the day, we used to play cricket despite scolding
From our parents and we were eagerly looking
Forward to the moonlit dinner on the open terrace and waiting
For dinner time to enjoy the choicest menu, we would be sitting
Around our grandmother and lovingly putting
A morsel of choicest food in our palms while stretching
Our hands besides passing some potato chips for munching
After the dinner, we were sharing
Our school activities and displaying
Our talents in storytelling and singing.
These pleasant memories we are cherishing.
The present-day youngsters are hardly meeting
Their cousins at a common place during
Their summer holidays, even if they happen to meet, they are browsing
Their smartphones and talking to their school friends, totally forgetting
The presence of their relatives and even some of them are meeting
Them first time in their life and formal introduction is required in understanding
The relationship of the relatives and some of them are not evincing
Any interest in knowing them. Now the trend is rapidly changing. |
