A part of vacant land near the sprawling building
Of my grandfather was used for growing
Vegetable plants and for watering
These plants, bullocks were used for drawing
Water from the well and pouring
In the specially constructed tub with the outlets for flowing
Even as the water was channelised to the plants, the gardener was going
Around the garden to ensure nothing was preventing
Easy flow of water, and every plant was receiving
The required quantity of water, once he got the feeling
The process of watering every plant was working
Properly, he would stop the bullocks drawing
Water from the well and release them for grazing
Then he would go to the cowshed for milking
The cows. After this activity, he would be bringing
Water and fodder for cows and bullocks, fondly tapping
Them while they were eating, the calves would come jumping
To join their mothers and would be sharing
The fodder and then their mothers would be licking
Their calf’s forehead and the gardener would coax them for chewing.
This kind of scenario the present generation cannot be imagining or dreaming.
