Woman!
Why do you seem to be
In so much despair?
Your despair is wild,
And so much bizarre!
Did society tell you to shut up?
Tell them that you will not be anyone’s slave,
That you are as free as the fish and the fowl,
And all that is born - that lives and dies,
In the Free World, which is God’s Gift,
And yours as much as anyone else’s!
Tell those who don’t know and who haven’t
Understood till now,
‘Don’t you know that it is time
To pick up the cudgels,
And receive the justice that we so much deserve?’
Tell those who don’t understand,
That your hands are not merely to
Clean homes.....and offices,
But to pick up the PEN,
And clean the cobwebs in backward minds
Of both foolish men and women,
Who live in stone-age times!
Those who harass women,
And tell them to not study,
To not go out for work,
To not go out without a chaperone,
To marry or not to marry,
To this person or to that!
Who measure you by the number of your offsprings
Or by the lack of it,
Or underestimate your abilities as Mother,
Wife, Daughter, Lover or Sister
Or laugh like demented souls at your achievements,
At home or outside!
Tell them that you want to receive,
Not just love but respect, too,
You want leadership roles in Home,
Office and Society!
That you wouldn’t mind and would even try to be,
The President or Prime Minister of your country!
