When gentle rays expand across the waking earth
The tranquil lake begins to buzz with activity -
Chirping winged creatures appear, all at once
bursting into song and symphony.
It’s a time of bounty with fragrant flowers,
gurgling brooks, lush green foliage…
The icy cold has bid adieu
The mellowed sun brings along mirth.
Men, women and children shed their winter layers
picnics and kite-flying beckon outdoors.
Markets throng with fresh harvests,
vendors cheerfully display their wares.
Out of a crevice, peeps a yellow dandelion,
Beside it, a billowing tuft – quick, make a wish!
Beneath the cone-strewn pines,
a rhymester sits, revelling in the season’s joy.
