On The Sidewalk

Bright blue skies and a gentle breeze

forced me out of inertia

leading me outdoors

Nature's soft song unfolded

disturbed from time to time

by noises from passing cars.

I stooped to admire the beauties

smiling, inviting me to

revel in that moment

They seemed to understand

that everything is ephemeral -

will fade into oblivion

Just at that moment my

biologist mom came along -

Did you know that all azaleas are

rhododendrons, they're

distinguished by their funnel-shaped

white blooms?

With a smirk, I walked on...
