Theme: Time

Time the Terminator

Haven’t many rulers come and gone?
Some by crafty means, some trusting swords,
Some gullible folks ditched by own men,
Some propped up by self-seekers.

Power like mercury never static,
Stay for a long period at a place
May not be palatable at all;
Otherwise how to nurture Nature?

Harischandra served in final resting place
Having lost throne, crown, left palace
Just to sustain his word and integrity.
How many followers could he find?

In modern times crumbled tainted regimes
Gained through means foul and filthy.
Some who fell may not be at fault
Yet, the undeserving need to be shown door!

Victors gladly gloat over trophies won
Losers blame all sans introspection
Contests sift winners and losers
Time the terminator acts discreetly!

Comment The poem mirrors the stark realities of our current milieu, notorious for hypocrisy, double standards, lack & wilful neglect of ethics & morals--eating into the vitals of the body politic.

Comment Very well written. Captures the scenario of elections where winning is the goal by hook or crook.

Comment Good critique there.
Power is fleeting, integrity is eternal, and time ensures that both are tested like in recent elections.
While history is full of rulers, only a few. à la, Harischandra draw lasting respect.Kudos. The
