wind currents in search of air
quest for what isn’t out there
fish, frantic for the ocean
see but water everywhere
oysters on the seabed swirl
frenetic for the elusive pearl
the deaf applaud wisdom
in the oratory of the dumb
and the cage preaches freedom
to the bird, wings clipped numb
deaf, dense and blind, I
sift, sort and label, just to
compartmentalize
what the wise internalize
splice time then slice it up
hope to hold it in captivity
in futile flailing for eternity |
