Singular Protest
by Dr. Uma Asopa
Bookmark and Share
  Somewhere between
day's setting
and evening's arrival,
the sky looks confused
in dusky shades.

Noisy crows from somewhere
descend on the scene -
their explosive demonstration
so distinct
in otherwise quiet evening.

They move en block -
a disgruntled mass,
aware of their black reputation.
Unperturbed,
they continue shrieking opinions.

My dog is enraged -
is barking non-stop.
In his mind
he has cowed down these crows.

Unmindful of his singular protest,
they have already settled
on our tree
to carry on
with their shady, selfish assertion.
