  Understanding
The nature of love
It has a way of
Taking away from your being
Like turpentine 'pon paint
If you carry the load
All that's unique
Evaporates like a mist
Qualities that others find dear
Self-respect tossed
For the one that you love
Sacrificial lamb attitude
Then you beg and whine
Expecting to find
Emotions to fill the need
So, hold on to your dreams
Impossible it seems
To be balanced and in control
Saying no to those
Expecting the most
Love has to be earned
Who said love comes easily
