The Light of My Life

I knelt beside him to wipe away
Tears on a face so fine
A gentle touch to a much troubled brow
As I held his hand in mine.

'Why cry yourself to sleep tonight
And why all these fears;
Must I watch in such agony
The Light of my life, shed tears.'

'Hush', I whispered, Hush you now
I'm back to ease your pain,
To cosset and comfort and hold safe
The Light of my Life, once again.

Do not think you're all alone
'Cause you see me never,
I've vowed to keep an eternal vigil
On the Light of my Life, forever.

Fear you not of unknown paths
'Cause I'll steer you back still
For I am the guardian of the light
For the Light of my Life, I will

I asked God to grant me this time
These precious moments few
So one last time I could tell you again
Light of my Life'I love you!

My life on earth is over now
Yours has just begun
But in my darkness you're the beacon
The Light of my Soul, My Son.
