Chameleon

Chameleon is red and fuming
at the slanderous charge
of purported resemblance
to humans as alleged by Chekhov

If they had any remedy
at least a suit for damages
would have been pending
against him

In this age of progress
masks change
without compunction
at every bat of eyelids

Words
Love/Hate
Friendship/Enmity
God/Demon
Truth/Falsehood
loaded with values
are being redefined
and getting new meaning

Notwithstanding Chekhov
chameleon you have no chance
any similarity was
purely accidental
any comparison unfair

Every expression
Actuated by unabashed
Self-seeking
nobody beats
human in the art
of changing colors
