There Lived A Friend

Once upon a time
there lived a friend
close to my heart.
Moments we had shared,
places we had seen,
passions we had reared,
all forgotten.
Dreams to struggle
for a better existence
life to lead
in our own terms,
rigid I and flexible she
yet well emulsified
feelings, forgotten.
Time pronounced
our separation
with heavy heart
we assured each other
that distance we would scorn
by keeping in touch
promises, forgotten.
Often my emotions
received no response
our wilting relationship
seems to be a burden on us
as if fire is burning
without any flame,
the spark, forgotten.
Other day I called her
to share my piece of happiness
'very very busy'
that's what she had said
the words pierced
thorough my heart
friendship, forgotten.
Yet I yearn for those days
In our simple living
We had composed
a tune which both of us
very often sang
rhythm of our life still match
rest all forgotten.
