A Moment under the Night Sky

As I lay under the night sky,
on the grass so dry,
swift wind blowing above me,
to a destination so far I cannot see.
I look at the moon,
hoping to meet it soon.
the voices in my head,
make me see the red.
I think again,
as I remember " no pain, no gain",
Has all been said?
or am I just being mad?
It leads me to read,
a little too much for me to proceed,
As I lay there,
trying to quieten the voices within,
my heart seethes with hope, a joyless hope,
still I wonder, is it just a dope?
I look at the moon again,
trying to conquer my thoughts insane,
A sudden illumination fills the eye,
breaking away all the shackles dry,
as I lay under the same moon,
but with a twinkle in my eye.
