Children of the World

  Oh, let's dream of the day,
a moment not so far
when each child
is protected
from all torment,
and that never again
as sacrificial lambs
will they be murdered
by fanatic minds.

When the cruelty
that so many endure
will be no more;
fear and terror
never showing again,
in their precious eyes.
Hunger, hate, and war
at no time should
touch them.

Innocents of the world
are all so pure,
let's not eradicate
your joyful smiles,
let placid sleep
enfold in love,
calmness and lullabies.

Your sweet dreams
should never be disquieted.
Vigilant angels
extend their wings,
protect you from all harm
guarding your sleep.

And the whole of humanity
loving you,
as they love their own child.
