The Appreciation of Beauty

  To review my walk is to remember
that for what I beheld there were no words
save title sole of each thing: metaphor
and simile, the entry into sport
painful to incline at the time, and all
attempt at apt description lacking to
a chilling degree! - Until I recall
my childhood appreciation with few
words: in a single act of ecstasy,
correspondence with the entire scene!
Here was marriage whose parts a unity
it were a rudeness to put words between;
and with a fellow man to share that might
be summed up simply as 'a lovely sight'.
