Who again knocks at my door?
In the depth of this night
Who has come, whom does he seek?
It is a long time since
Like a guest in his youth
The spring day had come
In a vast flood of joy
It had drowned my soul.
Now the night is dark
It is raining hard
A flood is pouring
My hut is in ruins
With my lamp blown out
By these wet winds
I am sleepless and lonely.
I don’t know you O guest
But your song is so sweet
I am thinking in my mind
I shall accompany you
On a journey into the darkness unknown.
