If I were a Little Bird

If I were a little bird
I’d soar up and high
Over the trees and rooftops
Across the open sky

I would flap my little wings
To frolic all around
North, South, East or West
High above the ground

I would fly for very long
But somewhere along the mile
I would neatly wrap my wings
To rest for a while

The oceans would not hold me
I’d fly through the gale
West towards the setting sun
To you my nightingale

Then on a bough of a tree
Beneath the indigo blue
I would find a cozy place
To sing my heart to you
