Love at 50+

Love at 50+
is more a flashback
of keeping pace with the train
to see her off when she went home
to visit her mother on the weekend
than to to see the design she made
on the handkerchief for my twenty first birthday...
It is more a flashback
of closing the umbrella
to get her drenched in monsoon showers
and enjoy her pretend anger
than to wipe the sweat drops
from her forehead in hot summer.
It is more a flashback
of stealing her assignment book
to read her first love letter
and leave her red eyed,
less a honey and more a bee-hive
than to take up the repair work
at the eleventh hour
with a promise of a weekend long drive!
It is more a flashback
of opening the knob on a sly
to leave her high and dry
on the bath-tub bed
than wiping soap bubbles
from her burning pair of eyes...
Love at 50+
is a clear pleasant sky after a storm,
it is a fruit-laden bower
bent after bearing fruits from each flower.
