The Smallest Spark

I suppose that when all is said and done,
the saying and the doing, they are not
common things: each is a coordinate
on the divine graph, in the scheme of things;
each breath a shout, each movement made a strike,
each second of duration a long hour,
each grain of sand a mountain, and each spark
a fire! -- to its counterpart in absence.
Where love's concerned this circumstance applies,
whose pure act only now and then emerges:
the greater part of human love is spent
within the safe confines of heart and mind
that breaks through absence into action, then
the smallest spark the brightest star to shine!
