A Passion for Games

In the orderly systems of the universe
a huge boredom, composed only
of majesty, with its blaze of stars,
and no games - God plays no dice - at all.

Only when the world becomes a concept
of warm-blooded creatures, does it become
a place of fun and games; among the animals
offspring are excused from seriousness.

The theory is that games prepare one for life,
but having reached adulthood, man still plays
with passion, seriousness drapes all around,
the huge boredom, games inventively bypass.

The continuance in competitive sports,
if only to watch, is man's recreation of
the world, the rest is a prop, a place
of hazard, a huge boredom called life.
