I believe in Santa,
Noel Baba, Kris Kingle,
I love his red and white décor,
His exquisite flying reindeer,
His mischievous elves,
And his gliding toboggan
I love his white beard
Zeroing down on the credulous
On snowy winters, school holidays,
And hyped departmental stores
From Sweden to Solomon Islands.

I love the way he divides the world
Into rich and poor, good and naughty,
Retribution and reward,
It’s his annual benediction and benefaction,
And our sense of being wanted
As he sails through our consciousness
Catching residues of childhood narratives
Fixing fantasies to simple requests
Giving meaning to an ungovernable world
If you don’t believe me
Send a letter to Yule Goat and see.
