A Mother's Lament

"I felt elated and excited,
When you topped the rankings
At every phase of your education.

I felt elated and excited,
When you shared your cognition
With all your friends.

I felt elated and excited,
When you grew with such
A self-discipline.

I felt elated and excited,
When you took wise decisions
by yourself.

I felt elated and excited,
When your talent shone
in extra-curricular activities, too.

But my son, I realised my failure as a mother
When you commited suicide impetuously
And exposed your cowardice.

My Son, you should have had killed me instead!"
The mother sobbed inconsolably.
