Winter Sunset

A red river valley in the sky
With rivulets running across
Spreading shades of orange
That contrast with the blue
I wait with bated breath
To see the Sun God appear
In all his glory before retiring
For the night, leaving behind
The fading reds of the river
As they make way for the
Darkness of the night skies
To take over and for the moon
To smile benignly on the earth
