A Friendly Protest

'A protest by an innocent',
sings a mother so affectionate,
'If you are happy and you know it
clap your hands, and if you are angry
and you know it, stamp your feet...'

That is exactly what they did.
When I went up the terrace
I saw the water I filled
last evenig is all spilled,
seeing just a bowl of water
and not a single grain
the pigeons for sure
have stamped their feet...

That was so human of them.
A group of pigeons at each dawn
leave in our minds untold pleasure
when they pick grains on our roof
and take a few sips of water.

A pigeon, a dove, a squirrel and a sparrow
when they move in and out of our home,
they do not know, but we know,
they dust off each grain of our sorrow...
