Happiness

Does the scent of flowers
Serve to lift one's mood?
Or a spot of shopping
Does one any good

Does one gorge on chocolate?
To give one joy each day
To put things in perspective
And chase those blues away!

What brings smiles to one's face?
When one's had a spat
Or are they some little things
That sends one back to bat

Tell me what makes one happy
To overcome life’s strife
Maybe it could bring sunshine
Into someone else's life!

Comment A lovely poem. I do not have much knowledge of poetry, but what makes me truly happy is a piece of work well completed. Then I agree with Dipankar, tranquility, the felling of completeness within yourself. Swastha - swa meaning yourself and asti being established.

Comment Reading this didn't bring sunshine to my life, but it certainly made my lips spread into a smile. Not a grin, just a smile and possibly a sigh, paradoxically enough. This is not a haiku I know, but somewhere in it I detected the flavour of a haiku. Or else, why should I be reminded of this classic haiku?

"Tranquility
Walking alone
Happy alone."

It's hard for me to describe precisely how much I enjoyed reading your poem. I liked it so much because I understood it. I admit that I have to learn a lot about poetry and my understanding/perception is not always the way it should be. But I keep trying.

Thanks for this beautiful piece.
