Facing Silence

  I sit inside the mauve sky,
Gazing at the ember of twilight
That glimmers like moonlight.
I sit, watching the last ray
Blazes as the sun is dying.
The wreaths float above the greens,
Glittering in red, blue and white;
The last hour of daylight hums its way to a blind night.
I sit, awaiting my turn to die.
