Dreams Gone Sour

He dreamed of the cherry blossoms
But experienced something different
Earthquakes followed by a tsunami
That triggered off a nuclear disaster

He walked across the affected region
Surveying the destruction wrought
By nature's fury shedding many tears
Remnants of his home far out at sea

He passed a graveyard of new cars
Lying in a pool of stagnant water
He thought sadly of the loss of lives
The members of his family missing

A message flashed on his mobile phone
“Search and rescue operation abandoned”
His last hopes of finding his loved ones
Faded like his cherry blossom dreams
