Numb Fate

Two little boys brought to our home
One six the other a two year old
The little one cried to unchain from his brother’s strings
The elder in school mopes in silence
Uncaring of his teacher’s taunts
His blank stares and unmindful reactions
Conveys grief of his recent loss
A cue from friends in the home
Presents faces in rangoli form
His Amma, Chikkappa and Ajji in conversation in their courtyard
In the far distance his father angry and drunk
The cause his precious three loved ones took their lives
His little brother yet to conceptualise his mother’s demise
Angers in tears and wallops ones who sneer
His mother took her life for dowry
This is the story of two little boys
Who joined our home! We love and care for them.
