A Friend in Need

I was pleasantly surprised,
or I may say I was shocked
a tiny bee when I lifted up
didn't sting my palm...

At mid-day it was batting its wings,
was it asking for some help.
A few drops of water on my palm I poured;
the little thing remained motionless for a while,
its legs started to move, it took off,
perhaps with a smile (?)
for a moment I could feel, 'Yes, indeed,
it is nice to be a friend in need!'

Comment Dear Madhavi, so nice of you to dedicate a poem to a friend who lives across the seven seas. I am so glad that you liked my little poem. Thank you, dear.

Dr. Mallick, your poetry is excellent and simple poem from my side to readers. Iam dedicating to my friend who is settled in america.

Precious Friend

You are my true friend
I contentedly love you
Instilled trust and confidence
Always when I was feeing blue

You were there at the time of adversity
And when I was totally helpless
You made me capable to withstand
When drowning in economic crisis

You have a heart so precious
Filled with full of love and kindness
Friendship with you is worthy to me
Remain forever till I am breathless
