War and Wedding

Saturday, the pilot boat is going out a ship in the bay,
in two hours time she will birth in Lisbon and her crew
can go ashore for a drink or whatever seafarers do
when on leave. They might be shopping for delicate
frocks, frilly knickers, high heeled shoes and carves.
Yesterday´s big wedding is over, every channel was
full of it and fulsome commentating, ladies hats were
much remarked on, no surprises there; and when
the camera panned I saw Princess Ann looking frumpy
as usual. I wasn´t invited but will not hold it against
the newlywed, who looked sweeter than a bar of candy.
The war is back on the news, Gaddafi, everyone thought
was an easy kill, has been gaining ground over the rebels.
All this while NATO danced, drank bubbly and watched
the wedding of the year, on TV.
