The night was darker than usual
The winds appeared colder too
The owl hooted from its perch
The atmosphere was very eerie
Sitting alone at home she trembled
Expecting to see a ghost float across
The room as was known to happen
According to her aged grandmother
There was no neighbour close by
To whom she could run for help
So shutting her eyes she just hoped
The night would pass uneventfully
But the owl did not allow her to sleep
It hooted louder from a lower perch
The dog joined the chorus by barking
By which time she hid under the bed
She had lowered the quilt to block
Out the ghosts and the scary sounds
Her ploy worked for the noise stopped
But on awakening a surprise awaited her
She had actually slept in her own bed
Under a warm quilt with a heating pad
There was nothing unusual around
She had infact just had a bad dream!! |
