Who Cares?

After such long years of courtship
I realize what a great faux pas was it
To situate myself by your side
Roaming eye contacts dart falsely
As smiles across the floor question
What are you doing at the side of this sham being?
Flashes onto my self-conscious blushing outer being
Deep within however, I know,
At least, we know, don’t we, dearest?
Social non-acceptance is well taken
And life will go along as never before
So said the one held cuddly
By one who cares in spite of not being cared for
