A Roadside Flower

I am only a roadside flower
And I blossomed in the dark
Like a drop of tear
Dropping silently from the eyes of the night.
No deity wants me as his offering
Nor do I find a place in a garland
Deeply hurt
I dry up with the morning dew.

I had sweet scent in my heart
I had a dream to be a garland
Before I die.

Even if I had to cry
After getting someone's love
I would have cried
Such pain was far better
There is pleasure in such pain.

Transcreation of the love song 'Ami pathamanjari phutechhi andhar rate' by Kazi Nazrul Islam. Best recording of this song is by Dhiren Basu.
