Only Coming and Going

It’s only coming and going
Only drifting along a flowing stream
In darkness and light
Only laughing and crying
Just meeting and barely touching
And looking back when fading far
Rushing ahead only hoping and hoping
Leaving behind unrealizable longings
Without enough strength to achieve
Endlessly craving
Striving utmost yet getting nothing
Sailing on a leaking boat
On a limitless sea
Words failing to express what one feels
Hearts only meeting with no time to know
Or finish talking
Timid and worried
Half trusting and half loving.

Translation of the love song - Shudhu jaoa asa, sudhu srote bhasa by Rabindranath Tagore.
The original with its swaralipi or notation in Bengali can be viewed here.
