Pride

  A naïve beauty I betrothed
Slim
As ever
Large sparkling eyes, broad forehead and long tresses
A ninth grade pass with a keenness to continue
Yet tradition an upper hand
We tied the knot to our elders’ pride
Our home her nest she subdued to all around
Her urge to gain knowledge
Which she did with our support
Humble of her accomplishments
She landed a prestigious fellowship
Her goal
The show of oppression is void!
The experience of suppression is negated!
To feel depression
Is to walk out into the wide horizon in search of self
We are proud of all she is!
