Theme: Love

Insist not to go this day...

Should you go away this day,
Insist not to go away this day…

The buds of lilies are just peeping out,
Will you not wait till they blossom?
Look, the mother bird is sitting in the nest,
Will you not wait till chicks hatch and chirp?

The cool breeze from the south is on its way,
Will you not wait till it scatters your silky tress
To cover half of your sweet face -
As if a cloud patch on moon surface !

On the blades of grass in front of our home

The dew is yet to fall, will you not stay on

To walk softly at daybreak

And ask me to count the footsteps?

Two new branches on the rose are fast shooting up,
Will you not wait for the buds, their eyes to open?
The canvas you had mounted is half done,
Will you not at the end attest your signature?

Should you go away this day,
Insist not to go away this day…

Comment Dear Rajat babu, thank you for your compliment. Yes, I am aware the poem you are referring to. While describing nature or of separation, the emotions do get reflected on what we have raed or feel. Tagore is an overpowering personality, and one can get his shadows at many places.

I often have flavor of Tagore in your poems and in this one I get the following Rabindrasangeet’s.
Yours sincerely,
Rajat Das Gupta

He kshaniker atithi
Ele probhate kare chahia

[Note: It seems, this song flashes the transit of the humans through their mortal life on their infinite journey towards the unknown with the tragedy
imbibed in their short stint on this earth.]

O a few moments’ guest
You come at dawn on whose quest?
Along the path with Shefalis (*) shed * a flower
In the morning dews bathed
With grief latent at their nook
As the sad loner you overlook.
O cruel,
On what magic spell
Mutely knell your departure
While to unite you appear?
O traveler, on your chariot of light
Towards the dark is your flight
With your songs of joy immense
In charming cadence.
