Caffeine Variations

  My drowsy brain
Needs intoxicating caffeine
To take me from the serene
Fallacy of dreams,
Back to the general frenzy of reality.

You walk by, sedate
A carefree state!
It's what I liked about you ...
Your mystery of eyes -
Shadowing hair surmise ...
Your effect, too good to be true ...

But you never snapped out
To look…you were quite content ...
And you wouldn’t ...
Oh why I never understood
As I observed you
From the organized chaos of my life?

Enough already!
It's time now
That I woke up to smell the coffee
