Theme: Beauty

The Flower

The flower was waiting for you, O girl,
In the branch of the tree
Under the shade of the leaves.
Touched by your breath
Its heart has blossomed
Looking at your face what it sees!

It says, ‘Long ago in the primeval dawn
We had woken up together
And together we have been bound since then
In the same rhythm.

In a misty light in the breeze of life
We drifted together
Who knows how we parted our ways.

To fulfill what secret scheme of creation
Through ages we are born into new lives
In new lands in new times.

At last I met you and realized
I am standing still where I was in that primeval dawn
But you have found your ultimate end.

We have retained that primal rhythm in our bodies
It eternally flows unseen in the heart of our being
And here we are alike.
I don’t know where it goes, what it expects
This much I realize now, my friend –
In me beauty has stood still
But in you it has become love.’
