There is something lost of Christ in today’s
world that can never be regained, but Christmas
carols echo a lost faith, in that phase
renewed - to subside under analysis.
We are such realists as make of singing
angels unequipped with vocal chords void;
virgin birth only prompting questioning -
quite distracting from the holy tabloid.
The supernatural is discredited
alongside crediting of fantasy
that is literature and art; outer space
dead, but screened space fiction a has to see.
It’s as though today the divine cannot
communicate because man so decides
on scientific grounds; God on a spot
putting, and all the world of faith, besides.
