Literature is resistance
It ought to be, if it is not.
A writer shouldn’t yield to power
Or any other kind of hegemony.
He has the tools, the wherewithal
To defy eternally.
Every writer’s dream
Is the French Revolution,
Failing which,
Any form of civil disobedience.
Poets, novelists and dramatists
Want to fight for justice
To participate in any kind of resistance,
Even vicariously, through
Following the adventures of resistance heroes.
In films and comics books,
Vanquishing corrupt nobility,
Soldiers and generals.
Literature expresses the undying belief
That justice must prevail!
