To and To Be

On the pans of a scale
love strikes a delicate balance –
Love on one side
and on the other its fragrance

One wants to love,
the other wants to be loved,
One wants to see,
the other wants to be seen

One wants to hear,
the other wants to be heard,
One wants to adore,
the other wants to be adored

One wants to dream,
the other wants to be dreamt of,
One wants to sing,
the other wants to be a song

Between to and to be
there is a see-through wall,
hidden in the heart and shining in eyes
love is a many splendoured fadeless crystal
