I Write Poems...So What...?

Some say, my poems lack “softness” and “soul”,
How can I be blunt and yet be soft, as a whole?
Issues that I write on are realities, harsh and stark,
Wonder if they can be embellished with poetic spark.

Some say, my poems are so totally of "life" devoid;
Constantly harping on “social issues”, I must avoid.
I say, each to his own – you write what you “feel”,
But then I “think”, “feel” and go on to issues reveal.

To write about social issues, I consider it my duty,
Because of this, some say, my poems lack “beauty”.
Poets to their surroundings are sensitive and aware,
Should they, therefore not their views on issues air?

For me, injustice somewhere, is not just a news item.
It speaks of something really wrong with our system.
My voice may not be heard as I am just a non-entity,
Yet that I should speak up, I do believe with certainty.

I also write poems on “dry” subjects like finance,
At volatility of markets and prices, I look askance.
I watch movement of exchange and interest rates,
I feel truly inspired by Warren Buffet and Bill Gates.

Finally I have this to say to those,
Who advise me to stick to prose:
You adorn poetry with love and grace,
But I’ll continue in my rebellious ways...!

Poem is ubiquitous...it doesn't exist here by not existing there. It is a perspective from where poem emerges.

Please keep writing your way because there is no high way! :-)
