World Poetry Day

I was called up by a poet friend of mine from Kolkata
saying that today is World Poetry Day.

I do not know who decides such days and why.
For me every day is a poetry day
for I must express myself
whenever the need arises.

I may be sad, I may be happy,
I might have been violated,
I might have been angry,
I might have felt cheated.

Every occasion of life may prompt me
to pen a few lines...
I do not want to let the opportunity go.

The action reaction cycle,
I feel, should be documented.
For, understanding and knowledge grow
when society and individual feed each other.

The moment should not pass undocumented.
So, for me, every day is poetry day.
