  A journey can seem unending,
Joy and peace ebb into the gloom,
Like flames of fire in a steady downpour,
A dream can seem unattainable,
With its pains gnawing like ants,
Each as unrelenting as a scabies itch.

Then we understand thanksgiving,
Optimism becomes a prescribed pill,
Laughter heals and tears strengthen,
For we now agree it’s the way life is,
In time we become acquiescent!
